Fiction writing

My love of stories has led me to study screenwriting both in Tampere University of Applied Sciences and University of Manchester. In 2016-2019 I attended a 3-year creative writing course Viita Academy. My favourite genre is speculative fiction/fantasy, especially when served with with some psychological or social elements. Humour always works for me as well.

Published in August 2022: Kalmanperhon kutsu – a fantasy novel for YA audiences which starts a new trilogy.

Comics

I’ve always read comics. It was at the back of my mind for a long time that it would be cool to make them. But things were busy. Finally in 2020 I had my first chance to start publishing online. With some indispensable help from a great web developer Matti Tanskanen I got this site up and running.

Why comics, you might ask? It’s because I truly believe there’s something about comics. They are accessible to pretty much everyone. They can, at their best, say quite a lot with very little. They can ask questions and wonder who we are and where we’re heading, as individuals and as a culture even. They can comfort us with humorous angles when the world seems grim and unjust. Those are the underlying reasons, I guess, why I’m so fascinated by them.

So, now I sit here drawing my comic Almost True Stories whenever I can. Hope you like it!

Art

I like to draw and paint with watercolors. I haven’t had too much time for that lately, because life and other things, but some day in the future I am planning to add here a little exhibition of some of my works.
